6 Health Benefits of Celery Juice

I’m about to share with you 6 Health Benefits of Celery Juice that’ll improve your overall health and can have you feeling amazing! Oh, and don’t forget to check out one of my FAV celery juice recipes below! 

1. GUT HEALTH

One of the main benefits of celery juice is it’s powerful ability to improve your HCL – otherwise known as stomach acid levels – it helps to break down the foods you eat, specifically proteins. But when levels of HCL are low – common problem if you have an autoimmune disease or are chronically stressed – you’ll experience life changing symptoms like constant indigestion, acid reflux and IBS. Basically, your digestive system is thrown completely out of whack, and you aren’t able to digest your food or absorb the essential nutrients from the foods you’re eating. Now listen up! Because here’s where the healing power of celery juice comes in. The minerals and mineral salts in celery can help boost digestion, absorption and utilization of the food you eat for the remainder of the day. Which means you should be drinking your CJ on an empty stomach prior to consuming any food for the day. Since I’m an intermittent fasting lover, I simply recommend drinking 8-16oz of this awesome beverage right before your first meal at the beginning of your feeding window! 

2. THYROID CLEANSING

Hallelujah!  Something that naturally supports our thyroid! According to research, the mineral salts in celery help to fight and cleanse the body of the Epstein-Barr virus, particularly in the thyroid. Celery can also help to boost production of important thyroid hormones in those with hypothyroidism – resulting in improved function. Need I say more? I know I don’t because these two benefits alone are incredible – but THERE’S MORE! 

3. LIVER DETOXIFICATION

Speaking for all the ladies that love their wine and mojitos (I may or may not be speaking about myself), or all the junk food that gets splurged on etc… we need to regularly detox our liver! In celery there’s a little something called luteolin, a potent flavonoid, that can act as an antioxidant and calms inflammation. Drink up!  Inflammation is the root cause of numerous diseases, aches, and pains in the body.

Lemon Apple Celery Juice

Ingredients

  • 3 stalks of organic celery
  • 2 apples
  • 2 lemons

Instructions

  1. Wash celery, apples and lemons in warm water with a veggie wash.
  2. Remove both ends from celery.
  3. Cut apples and lemons in half.
  4. Turn on juicer to appropriate setting and individually add each ingredient.
  5. Once you've completed extracting the juice from the fruits and veggies you may add a touch of liquid stevia for sweetness.
  6. Refrigerate and enjoy cold in the morning prior to eating your first meal!
