Gluten-Free Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Aug 20, 2019

I love creating recipes that are delicious AND healthy. This recipe is probably my favorite baked good creation that uses a non-conventional flour, not to mention very little sweetener. Below is my Gluten-Free Banana Chocolate Chip Muffin recipe that uses almond flour, coconut sugar, stevia and eggs. Maybe a few more ingredients, but those are the major ones! Simple doesn’t always mean healthy. These muffins, however, are simple AND healthy!

My hope is you enjoy them as much as my family does. Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter below to get more of my recipes. 🙂

TIPS:

  • Coconut sugar is not required. These are naturally sweet with ripe bananas and the stevia! The coconut sugar can be used if you’re used to your ‘sweets’ being extra sweet!
  • These may be made dairy-free as well by simply replacing the chocolate chips with cocoa nibs, DF chips or using blueberries.

Tracking Macros: Is It Right For You

Aug 20, 2019

There’re about a million different ways that are thought to be the BEST way to ‘get healthy’ and ‘achieve your ideal body’. Regardless of all the information out there that’s accessible to you, it can be insanely overwhelming to a person trying to find out what’s best for THEM. Today I want to help you figure out if Tracking Your Macros is Right For You.

Because a great deal of the advice is conflicting and despite all the research out there, the attention-grabbing/non-factual information still somehow makes its way through it all. This sadly creates a more than ideal environment for companies to make empty promises that there is some magical weight-loss secret only they have the answer to. Fat loss pills, some tea that melts away all of your fat (cue the eye roll), wraps that magically make you skinny, the list goes on and on.

Knowledge is power!

And the diet industry thrives on misinformation.

So if...

What Is Your Gut Health Telling You?

Aug 20, 2019

There are many thoughts behind what you should eat, how you should take care of yourself, what kind of “diet” you should follow etc… As a nutritionist I wanted to share what I believe is THE most important aspect of your health that you should be caring for; your gut health. What is Your Gut Health Telling You?

If it is, then your body has the ability to absorb nutrients properly, get rid of toxins efficiently and function at its optimal level. Even if your diet is pristine, your nutrient absorption will be compromised, inflammation will be present and much more could be going on.

How Does Nutrition Impact Your Gut Health?

Of course the food we consume satisfies our appetite and fills us up. But what we choose to nourish our bodies with can have a dramatic impact on our digestive system, our immune system, our nervous system, our reproductive system, our cardiovascular system, our microbiome — and ultimately, the rest of the body.

How To Have A Healthy Relationship With Food

Aug 19, 2019

Food is meant to be consumed with the intention of feeding your mind, body and spirit well. Yet very few people are actually eating a well balanced diet that isn’t attached to emotion, or unhealthy habits. This reality is why I want to help so many others learn How to Have a Healthy Relationship With Food. Here are my 5 tips to help you in changing that!

1. Start practicing intuitive eating

People who have a steady ongoing healthy relationship with food most likely have intuitive eating down by nature. They may not even know what it is because it’s now an innate behavior.

Intuitive eating means that when you’re hungry you eat, and you stop once you feel satisfied. It allows you to go about your day freely not having to fixate your entire life around food. When you have this relationship with eating you don’t allow outside influences to dictate what time you eat, or what types of food you eat. We are actually born with this built into us, yet as adults over...

The Truth About Soy

Aug 19, 2019

Here’s the truth about soy; soy in the past has been the bee’s knees for a hard core vegan. And for good reasons like it’s punch of protein and wonderful phytonutrients. And for years now people of put soy on a pedestal, nutritionally speaking, until now.

Is it all it’s cracked up to be. The answer may be no. Dangers of soy have been coming up more and more in products like soy protein powders, soy formulas, or plain old soy lecithin (commonly described as an emulsifier to prevent clumping). Turns out soy may be more harmful to our health than helpful.

This “super bean” has been linked to possibly increasing the risk of cancer, causing hormonal disturbance and stunting growth in our children. Need I say more? Well, I’m going to! Here’s a look at the hidden dangers of soy.

What is Soy?

Before we dive into what soy’s dangers are I’d like to explain what it is! Soy is derived from the soybean plant that is largely harvested...
